Knights play a big part in May Crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The men of Cardinal Stritch Knights of Columbus Council #4620 were asked by St. Mary pastor Fr. Kevin Huber to carry in the statue of our Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, for the May Crowning ceremony at St. Mary Church on May 1, 2022.
It was a well attended event. It had been many year’s since the parish held a May Crowning. Fr. Huber thought since May 1st fell on a Sunday, it would be fitting to hold the ceremony.
The ceremony began with a procession down the middle aisle of the church. Leading the procession was the statue carried in by Knights Roger Zellers, Jim Landers, Larry Biegel and Dan Marcotte. The Council was also well represented by many other Knights in attendance.
Following the statue were boys and girls of the parish who had made their first communion the week before. One of the children was selected to put the floral crown on Mary’s head. She was assisted by Leo Marcotte, who is ready to begin his first year as a seminarian at Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Winona, MN.
The Knights of the Cardinal Stritch council are sponsoring Leo and 2nd year Seminarian Ryan Pierce, also from St. Mary’s parish.
