December is Remembering Those Who Need Our Help

November has been a very busy one for the Council. We held our first annual Chili Dinner at St. Marys. The Chili recipe provided by our Deputy Grand Knight Everett Fritz was a great success. The chili was a big hit with the dinners, with many coming back for seconds and thirds. We raised $1200 for the St. Marys Home and School Association.

The upcoming Advent season gives us time to call to mind the people who could use some help. This month contains several big events that will give us the opportunity to spread joy this Christmas season.

The “Keep Christ in Christmas” Poster Contest has been given to St. Marys School and the Faith Formation children.

Our Bishop Donald Hying will be paying two visits to us this month.

• The first event is the Family Advent Day at St. Marys on Sunday November 29th. Our council will providing refreshments at this event.

• The second is a new Knight recruiting mass being held at Our Lady of Consolation Church Monday, November 30, 2015. This is a great opportunity to bring new Knight prospects and let them hear about what we are and do. I would like to see every Knight bring one prospect to the event.

The next event on the calendar is the Coat Drive. The Council will be partnering with St Marys Church to collect coats for distribution. The council has made a cash contribution to the drive which will be used to buy coats. In addition, we are also looking for any coats that the members and their families have outgrown or no longer wear. We will be turning over these coats on December 12th. Donations can be given to Larry Biegel, Everett Fritz II or Roger Zellers.
Plans for December include the Children’s and Adult’s Christmas Partys. The Children’s Party has been moved this year. The date of the Adults Christmas Party has been changed to Friday December 18th at 6 PM. Details are posted on this website.

Christmas also involves giving to others in need. In addition to the Coat Drive, the Knights will also be participating in the Jesse Tree with St. Marys.

I sincerly wish you and your families a joyous Christmas and the very best blessings for the upcoming new year.

Vivat, Jesus
