Cardinal Stritch Council 4620 Knights of Columbus Participated in a Ramp Build
On Monday, April 25, 2016, three members of our Cardinal Stritch Council 4620 Knights of Columbus participated in a ramp build for one of St. Mary’s parishioners. This particular patient was coming home to Crown Point, IN after a lengthy hospital stay, however, a wheelchair ramp was required to be in place before he could be released.
The team had about two weeks to complete the build. Miraculously, one of our Knights was contacted by a local church, Trinity Lutheran, when they learned of this need. They mentioned that they had just received a ramp donation and would we be interested in using it.
It turned out to be a perfect fit!
With excellent assistance from Prompt Ambulance, A Brush with Kindness (affiliated with Habitat for Humanity) and other volunteers that regularly donate their time and talent to Habitat for Humanity projects, the build was completed in one day. Our parishioner and his family were elated with the outcome and our patient is now safely home and using the ramp.
The Knights that participated; Larry Biegel, Everett Fritz, and Bill Gates showed the Cardinal Stritch Council is here to serve Crown Point any way and any time they’re needed.
