Knights Float in July 4th Parade
The Knights of Columbus Cardinal Stritch Council #4620 took part in the long tradition of Crown Point’s July 4th Parade by entering a float and handing out Tootsie Roll candies to the hundreds of people lining Main St. This was the second float entered by the Council in three years. Both entries finished in the judging.
In 2012, the Knights’ float took first prize in the Charities category. This year’s effort tied for third in a much broader Floats category.
The float featured an 8-foot cross, an American flag and a huge sign explaining what the Knights of Columbus do in the Crown Point community. It was put together in just 3 days in Br. Dave Willy’s brother’s barn by a handful of helpers. This was made possible because much of the pieces were used on the 2012 float.
The prize money will go to next year’s float fund.
